InterGen Activate x NACO: Women's Investor Roundtable Highlights
Teaming up with the National Angel Capital Organization (NACO), InterGen brought together a remarkable group of female investors for a dynamic two-day session focused on angel investing. Women are currently under-represented among equity investors, representing only 15.2% of Canadian venture capital partners and 16.7% of Canadian angel investors.¹
The workshops were designed to enhance the presence of women within our angel and venture capital community, fostering inclusivity and diversity in investment circles. One day focused on the technicalities related to Due Diligence and Term Sheets, while the other covered the key fundamentals of pre-seed investing including portfolio construction, building an investment thesis and maximizing profits. To conclude the series on a high note, two impressive local startups, Cubbi and Cashew, pitched their companies to the audience which was a fantastic opportunity for participants to apply the concepts learned over the past two days. Not only was this a positive exercise but also provided invaluable, unfiltered feedback directly to the founders.
See event highlights below:
Both days were all about learning and collaboration. Speakers Darren Engels and Spencer Gunning of Tailwind Ventures, followed by Bryan Slauko of Metiquity Ventures did an excellent job of explaining the topics and facilitating the discussions within the group. Witnessing this collective wealth of experience, potential and talent was both exciting and inspiring!
Entrepreneurs in attendance also found it both enlightening and valuable to gain insights from angel investors and venture capitalists on investment decision-making, including receiving invaluable tips for scale-up founders on how to lead and grow their business.
A heartfelt thank you to everyone who contributed to the success of this event! Not only did attendees leave with valuable insights, but they also formed new connections that will enrich our community. We eagerly anticipate hosting more gatherings to nurture and strengthen this network.
Stay tuned to this page for future event and activities.
Big shoutout to Fasken for generously hosting this roundtable series.
