About the Role
The Venture Lead will focus primarily on recruiting new venture and IBA (InterGen Business Advisor) relationships to the InterGen community, as well as nurture existing relationships. This role will also support internal operations that directly contribute to the impact InterGen has on helping grow scale-ups into successful businesses.
This position seeks someone that has at least 3 years of experience working in the Calgary tech ecosystem as an advisor to post product-market fit companies or worked in the commercial operations of a scale-up. The candidate also has strong desire to continue working with tech scale-ups, has sound judgement, and wants to grow their career in programming, business development and operations. Success in this role will be primarily measured by the volume of scale-ups that we quantifiably impact through our entire offering. Base pay is ~$80,000, and an annual performance bonus to be agreed upon for the selected candidate. A benefits and vacation package are also provided.

Responsibilities:
- Plan and execute an outreach strategy to recruit scale-up companies and best of breed IBAs to the InterGen network
- Work within HubSpot and in InterGen Connect, to monitor and increase the top of the funnel, and conversions to various stages of engagement with our IBAs
- Devise a reporting mechanism to measure outcomes of matches
- Complete weekly reporting in HubSpot to identify opportunities for new business, as well as performance improvements
- Support ongoing communication with scale-ups companies and IBAs
- Develop new, and own existing workflows that supports InterGen activities
- Be a point of contact for our vendors and strategic partners
Qualifications:
- Business or STEM degree
- Support administrative and logistical activities for events as required
- Attend local community events that will increase InterGen's exposure within the tech and business comm 3+ years working with venture capital, accelerator, technology companies and or start-ups
- Entrepreneurial and highly motivated with a strong interest in the innovation economy
- Strong ability to figure out what needs to be done next, and predict risks and proactively mitigate them
- Strong analytical ability and an understanding of diverse business models and drivers of success in start-ups and scale-ups
- Ability to analyze and systematically evaluate ventures - proficiency with financial modelling, conducting market analyses and strategic planning is an asset
- Experience and confidence working with high performing teams and multiple stakeholders
- Team-oriented work ethic with a willingness to work independently and autonomously
- Highly organized, attention to detail and program delivery skills are essential
- Demonstrates flexibility and adaptability to take on a wide variety of tasks with vigor
- Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to work inside tight deadlines
