Job Title: Head of Venture Liaison and Investor Recruitment
Location: Calgary, Alberta (Hybrid Position)
Position Overview:
InterGen has a network of experienced InterGen Business Advisors (IBAs) that volunteer their expertise with innovation driven scale-up companies (ventures). Additionally, we have curated a growing community of accredited investors that utilize our professional development platform called InterGen Activate, to gain more experience around angel investing. InterGen is a community where ventures, investors, and IBAs collide through professional development workshops, bespoke events and on our proprietary matching app - InterGen Connect. To date we have ~590 ventures on our platform that have completed >19,500 matches with ~550 IBAs, and with the help of InterGen, ventures have collectively raised more than $220 million in Seed and Series B funding. This role will focus primarily on liaising with a few hundred scale-up ventures in our network, and recruiting accredited investors that have the capacity to make meaningful angel investments. This role will also support internal operations that directly contribute to the impact InterGen has on helping grow scale-ups into successful businesses. This position seeks someone that has at least 7 years of experience working in the Calgary tech or business ecosystem as an advisor, investor, investor relations, or in the commercial operations of a scale-up. Success in this role will be primarily measured by the volume of scale-ups and investors that we quantifiably impact ans engage through our entire offering.

- Actively source and recruit 300 new accredited investors in Calgary through a series of outbound efforts that you devise and implement
- Collaborate with the marketing and communications team to develop materials and campaigns that engage accredited investors and promote the value of investing in early-stage startups through InterGen
- Plan and execute an outreach strategy to reach and engage at least 100 scale-up companies in the InterGen program. This outreach will be followed by completing discovery meetings to establish their needs and assemble a client journey that is customized to them
- Assess the investability of companies seeking to raise capital, and flag them for potential capital introductions
- Work with the InterGen team and its network to set the ventures on a path to achieving their business goals
- Devise a reporting mechanism to measure outcomes our ventures experience by engaging with our community
- Work within HubSpot and in InterGen Connect, to monitor and advance the engagement of our community
- Ensure that invite-only events are fully subscribed with the relevant target audience
- Attend local community events that will increase InterGen's exposure within the tech and business communities
Qualifications
- Business or STEM degree
- 7+ years working on an established commercial and investor relations teams, with a focus on key account management and business case development, as well as high volume new client acquisition
- Has a demonstrable track record of revenue and other business goal attainment
- Strong ability to figure out what needs to be done next, and predict risks and proactively mitigate them
- Strong analytical ability and an understanding of diverse business models and drivers of success in scale-ups
- Experience and confidence working with high performing teams and multiple stakeholders
- Team-oriented work ethic with a willingness to work independently
- Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to work inside tight deadlines
