InterGen Activate: How to Invest in Venture Funds as a Limited Partner

Alberta is ready and able. This month's most recent InterGen Activate workshop, in collaboration with Osler and Alberta Enterprise Corporation (AEC), proved to be a resounding success. It was a full room of individuals who are eager to invest in emerging venture funds and in turn support new entrepreneurs, with a focus on how to invest in Venture Capital (VC) as a Limited Partner (LP). The workshop brought together seasoned and aspiring investors from various industries to discover the intricacies and opportunities within the VC landscape.

Laura Webb from Osler and Christiana Manzoco from AEC did a spectacular job of showcasing the key factors that an investor should be aware of and consider when investing in Canadian VC. Providing a comprehensive overview of the VC ecosystem, they outlined its structure, key players, and investment dynamics. The workshop also touched on risk management strategies and tools that can help optimize returns for LPs.

The enthusiasm shown by numerous individuals towards this emerging asset class is certainly exciting. Beyond their interest to diversify their respective portfolios, they also aim to understand the impact of their potential investments.
