Position Overview

The Venture & Investor Engagement Manager is responsible for growing and strengthening InterGen's community of founders, investors, advisors, and strategic partners.

This role is focused on relationship building, business development, and community growth. The successful candidate will identify and engage high-potential companies, cultivate investor relationships, support strategic partnerships, and ensure participants are connected to the programs and opportunities that best support their growth.

The ideal candidate is naturally curious, highly relationship-oriented, and energized by meeting new people and creating meaningful connections.

Key Responsibilities

Venture Engagement & Growth

  • Identify and recruit high-potential founders and growth-stage companies into InterGen programs.
  • Conduct discovery meetings to understand company needs, challenges, and growth objectives.
  • Guide founders toward relevant InterGen programs, events, and community opportunities.
  • Build and maintain a strong pipeline of prospective ventures.
  • Develop relationships with accelerators, incubators, ecosystem organizations, and referral partners.

Investor Engagement

  • Recruit and engage accredited investors, family offices, angel investors, and venture capital partners.
  • Maintain regular communication with members of the investor community.
  • Support investor participation across InterGen programs and events.
  • Identify opportunities to strengthen investor-founder connections.

Community Development

  • Grow participation across InterGen's core programs and initiatives.
  • Build meaningful relationships with advisors, founders, investors, and ecosystem leaders.
  • Support member retention and engagement efforts.
  • Identify opportunities to create value and deepen involvement within the community.

Business Development & Partnerships

  • Support sponsorship and partnership development activities.
  • Identify strategic opportunities to expand InterGen's network and reach.
  • Develop relationships with professional service firms, corporate partners, and community organizations.
  • Represent InterGen at ecosystem events and networking functions.

CRM & Reporting

  • Maintain accurate records within HubSpot.
  • Track outreach activity, pipeline progress, and engagement metrics.
  • Monitor participation, conversion, and retention data.
  • Provide regular reporting on community growth and recruitment efforts.

Qualifications

Required

  • 3–7 years of experience in business development, relationship management, partnerships, community building, sales, venture capital, startup ecosystems, or a related field.
  • Strong networking and relationship-building abilities.
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to engage confidently with founders, investors, advisors, and executives.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Self-motivated with the ability to work independently.

Preferred

  • Experience working with startups, growth-stage companies, venture capital, angel investing, or entrepreneurial ecosystems.
  • Familiarity with HubSpot or similar CRM platforms.
  • Existing relationships within the Western Canadian business community.
  • Experience with sponsorship, partnerships, or community development.

Success in this role will be measured through:

  • Growth in venture participation across InterGen programs.
  • Growth in investor participation and engagement.
  • Number and quality of discovery meetings conducted.
  • Conversion of prospects into active community members.
  • Retention and engagement of founders, investors, and advisors.
  • Strategic partnerships developed and maintained.
