InterGen is entering its next stage of growth.
Over the past five years, InterGen has earned the trust of Calgary’s scale-up technology community and built a platform that founders, investors, and advisors take seriously. The next Program Director will build from this momentum — expanding InterGen’s impact through world-class programming, disciplined execution, and stronger revenue sustainability.
This is a senior operating leadership position for someone who understands how growth-stage companies work at their core — and who can translate that understanding into programs that drive real outcomes, not just activity.
The Program Director will lead InterGen’s program strategy while also setting direction for marketing and client relationship execution. This role requires strong judgement, commercial fluency, and the ability to operate effectively in ambiguity with limited resources.
What You Will Lead
The Program Director owns the full engine of InterGen’s scale-up platform:
- Programs that founders, investors, advisors respect and return to
- Marketing that drives reach, conversion, and targeted attendance
- Client relationships that grow our pipeline of scale-ups, investors and IBAs
- Funding and partnerships that sustain the organization beyond government support
You will directly manage:
- A Marketing Manager responsible for promotion, reach, and community engagement
- A Client Relationship Manager responsible for sourcing new companies, building client journeys, and being a trusted advisor to our scale-up executives and investors.
This role requires someone who can set clear direction, allocate capacity intelligently, and drive execution across these functions.
Key Responsibilities
Program Strategy & Scale-Up Product Design
- Design and continuously improve InterGen’s flagship offerings for Alberta’s most ambitious growth-stage companies, advisors, and investors.
- Build programming rooted in the realities of scale-ups: go-to-market, talent, capital, execution velocity, and founder decision-making.
- Ensure InterGen programs produce measurable success stories — not just attendance metrics or activity reports.
Marketing Leadership & Demand Generation
- Provide strategic leadership to InterGen’s marketing function, with a focus on efficient promotion and strong conversion to participation.
- Sharpen InterGen’s external positioning, messaging, and founder-facing narrative.
- Ensure workshops and events achieve meaningful reach and high-quality founder engagement without excessive spend.
Scale-Up Pipeline & Relationship Execution
- Lead the strategy for sourcing new scale-ups and deepening relationships with existing companies.
- Ensure InterGen is working with companies where we can drive real growth outcomes.
- Build founder trust through credibility, relevance, and consistently high execution standards.
Revenue Development & Funding Sustainability
- Drive diversified revenue through grants, partnerships, earned revenue, and founder contributions.
- Confidently secure commitments from companies and stakeholders — including financial support, expertise, and participation.
- Maintain strong reporting and communications with funders and partners.
Operational Excellence & Real-Time Problem Solving
- Execute with discipline in an environment that requires creativity, speed, and sound judgement.
- Solve problems in real time, often without predefined playbooks.
- Manage budgets carefully and build scalable systems despite lean resources.
Qualifications & Experience
This is a senior leadership role requiring demonstrated execution credibility.
Qualified candidates will bring:
- 10+ years of professional experience, including 5+ years in scale-ups, venture-backed environments, or growth-stage execution roles. Strong quantitative and negotiation skills, as well as working with ambiguity are essential for success in the role.
- A verifiable track record of successful outcomes in: program design and delivery, revenue generation, partnerships, and operational effectiveness
- Strong commercial fluency: selling, positioning, and stakeholder influence
- Ability to operate independently and be a reliable advisor to the CEO.
- STEM or engineering background preferred when paired with operational and commercial strength
Applicants must be able to point to specific, measurable outcomes they have personally delivered — not general ecosystem participation or advisory exposure.
The Profile We Are Seeking
We are looking for a grounded operator: someone who is thoughtful, prepared, outcomes-driven, and capable of leading with credibility in high-stakes environments.
This role is not suited to candidates whose experience is primarily event-based, community-only ecosystem work, or consultant-style proposals without demonstrated delivery.
Please note - we are not reviewing resumes. To be considered, you must complete this form and provide concise, outcome-focused responses. Thank you for your interest in joining InterGen, only those selected for interviews will be contacted.
